Every detail of Hattie Moore’s incredible year is wittily recorded in her diary. The ups and downs of every teenager’s life with the complications of being in love, hating school, fighting with siblings and needing to escape from parents. In Hattie’s life there is the additional complication of the arrival of her real father from Australia and her return trip to visit him. But, what matters most is the progress she makes in her relationship with the geeky but gorgeous and totally loveable Goose – the boy who lives next door.
Hattie Moore is fourteen and thinks she might be in love ... with a geek! This is the year Hattie wants to find real FULL ON love. No more McFitties, but real, long-term love. And she thinks she knows who with. His mum may still call him Goosey Woosey and he might have an unnatural interest in doing well in his GCSEs, but Goose could actually be THE ONE! But how can Hattie make him realize this, when he seems more interested in his gecko? And there's the other matter of her dad, who seems to be more interested in saving the planet than in his new-found daughter. And there's also Gran, who has a new iPad and a dangerous obsession with Twitter. What's a girl to do? Write it all down in a hilarious diary about the ups, downs and total dramas of being Hattie Moore. Rae Earl is also the creator of E4's hit comedy My Mad Fat Diary.
Rae Earl captures the outrageous but nonetheless surprisingly loveable characteristics of this convincing teenage drama queen Julia Eccleshare, Lovereading4kids.co.uk
A laugh-out-loud book, with moments of real poignancy. . . written in diary format, with exclamations, dramatic statements and lots of rambling, Hattie’s diary has all the teenage angst of Adrian Mole and the female worries of Bridget Jones. Carousel
I couldn't put this book down. Julia Afanasjeva, Teen Titles
