September 2024 Book of the Month

Huzzah! Magical Amari is back for the third instalment of B.B. Alston’s sensational supernatural agent series, and boy does Amari and the Despicable Wonders live up to sky-high hopes. As ever, Amari’s voice shines with dynamism and whip-smart wit as trouble brews in the form of a mind-manipulating prime minister and the threat of war.

This fabulous third book in the series kicks off with Amari encountering the big breaking news that magicians have attacked the Bureau of Supernatural affairs, leaving “many fearing the incident could spark a larger conflict, one as devastating as the Ancient War”. “This is my fault,” she responds, desperate for a chance to put things right, while her friends Jayden and Elsie rally round to support her, concerned about the condition of her aura.

Into this, war is escalating and everyone, including Amari’s newly-returned agent brother Quinton, is set on keeping her safe as her enemy Dylan is crowned leader of the League of Magicians. After discovering the only way to stop his destructive ambitions is to get their hands on powerful ancient Wonders, Amari and co set out on a perilous quest to do exactly that.

The magic and sense of adventure are off-the-scale exhilarating, as is the sense of doing whatever needs to be done in the name of doing what’s right.

Travel through a magical world with Amari Peters as she once again faces her arch nemesis, Dylan Van Helsing. As the third book of the series B.B Alston is sure to have you glued to the book.

Travel through a magical world with Amari Peters and her fight to end Dylan Van Helsing’s reign once and for all, it can't be that hard can it? Especially now she has Vanquish on her side. As the third book of the series B.B Alston is sure to have you glued to the book. You are transported into a supernatural world, going from portals, into haunted houses and getting trapped in time freezes. If you enjoyed Amari’s first 2 adventures, you'll be sure to love this. I particularly enjoyed the tension between different characters and how everyone is connected in the supernatural world and as a magician, Amari needs to show the supernatural world that not all magicians are villains and even though Dylan’s family has secretly had a long line of talented magicians, some are good and others are just like Dylan.... Amari is amazing! This is an exciting, fast paced, supernatural adventure. Just, if not more exciting, as the previous two books and a book I just didn't want to put down.

Amari is amazing - 10 Stars!!! I LOVED this book.

If you haven't read the first two go and do it NOW!

This book follows on directly from the end of the 2nd book (the great game), Amari blames herself for everything that is happening but with the help of her friends they work together to try and put things right. I still love the supernatural world in which these books are set, with magicians, weredragons and a whole variety of other supernatural beings, hidden from the sight of the known world. This is an exciting, fast paced adventure.... Read Full Review

This book is great for lovers of adventure and fantasy and I'd rate this book a 4.5 out of 5. I loved the magic and thrill and it made me want to read more!

In Amari and the Despicable Wonders, Amari is planning to save the world from Dylan (the evil magician). There's just a few things stopping her:
- A mind-controlling prime minister set on finding Amari and her friends
- The whole supernatural world is tracking her down
- She has an overprotective brother who is fixed on keeping her safe
And to top it all off she has no magic to face Dylan!
The only way to keep the world (supernatural and normal alike) safe is to find the mysterious despicable wonders. But can she do it in time?
