EarthFi is a jaguar and he is the guardian of the Amazon Rain Forest. He and his human friend, Terra, from the nearby village, work together to protect the mighty forest and thereby keep the Earth safe. One day he can feel there is danger in the air. He discovers that some greedy men have entered the forest with huge equipment intending to cut down the tallest trees in the forest. The story is beautifully told in a very descriptive way and accompanied by detailed, meaningful illustrations. The book is interspersed with facts and explanations about the Amazon Rain Forest and why it is important to us. The rainforest provides the earth with massive amounts of oxygen. It also absorbs large amounts of carbon dioxide. It, therefore, helps people and animals to breathe by cleaning the air and supplying us with oxygen which we need to breathe. If men are allowed to cut the trees down, it will ultimately harm people, animals, and our Earth. Children will be so absorbed in this magical story that they won’t even realize they are learning. The author writes in language that children can understand. The book is 26 pages long and there is a fair amount of text to read, so I would recommend it for children from about 8 to 10 years old.
