New from the creators of The Giant of Jum is another warm-hearted fairy-tale adventure brimming with joy and excitement. The Dragons of Dread are a terrible bunch, who love to snack on ‘dribblesome, nibblesome, knobble-kneed knights’. When little Dram turns four, he’s sent out alone to bite a knight, but soon runs into trouble, crash-landing in a lake. Fortunately there’s a young human there to help. Sharp-eyed readers will immediately spot that this little boy is a knight-in-training and anticipation builds for the moment these new friends realise they’re supposed to be sworn enemies. The rhyming text is great fun and lovely to read aloud. Benji Davies’s illustrations take us swooping through the air then provide close-ups of a growing friendship. This author-illustrator team give Donaldson and Scheffler a run for their money!
When a kind young boy helps a strange-looking bird, a beautiful friendship forms. But what these two friends don't realise is that one is a young knight ...and the other a young dragon! What will they do when they discover they are enemies and destined to FIGHT?
The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight is a bold, funny and heartwarming story from a perfect picture book pairing; the uniquely talented Elli Woollard and award-winning Benji Davies. Fairy tale fun from the creators of The Giant of Jum.
Elli Woollard started writing stories after an embarrassing incident in which her youngest son broke Michael Rosen's glasses. Having previousl written poetry, Elli's snappy rhymes, catchy, rhythms and witty stories have captured the imagination of the children's book world; from picture book collaborations with wonderfully talented illustrators such as Benji Davies (The Giant of Jum and The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight), Steven Lenton (The Great Gran Plan, 2017), to a first chapter book with the marvellous Laura Ellen Anderson (Swashbuckle Lil: The Secret Pirate). In everything she does, Elli Woollard brings a unique new voice to children's fiction, and is definitely an author to watch. She lives in London with her four children, her husband and two guinea pigs.
