LoveReading4Kids Says
These are great, fast-moving tales of action and adventure in which four intrepid young ladies pit their wits against all sorts of ne’er-do-wells to save animals in peril everywhere. They have lovely dresses and sparkly tiaras, which they often swap for ninja gear, and magic rings that help them communicate with each other and keep their adventures top secret. Especially when their mums think they’re busy practising how to curtsey or make regal table arrangements.
A message from Paula Harrison's Editor at Nosy Crow:
As the mother of a six-year-old girl who recoils, hissing, from anything pink and who would be hard pushed to tell you what a hairbrush is, let alone if she owns one, I am not really in the market for books about sugar and spice and all of that. So when I read a manuscript about four princesses who know ninja moves and use them to rescue cool animals like lions and tigers, I could see the target readership very clearly indeed. Out of the window, in fact, doing cartwheels in the garden surrounded by a vast collection of stuffed cheetahs.

About Paula Harrison
Paula Harrison began inventing stories and writing them down as a child. One of her best was about a magical land inhabited by talking bookworms. After taking an English degree, she became a primary school teacher and is now married with two children. She loves inspiring children's imaginations and believes that day-dreaming can be a really good use of your time (although she hasn't actually said that during a lesson). Over the years, she's shared many different authors' books with children, and now she can't wait to share her own.
Paula says: “The beginnings of the idea for The Rescue Princesses came when I watched my daughters playing. They were racing around the garden pretending to be Princesses who could go anywhere and do anything they liked. That set me thinking: in a world where anything is possible, Princesses won’t be sitting around on thrones. They’ll be out there, proving they’re better than the Princes!”
Paula Harrison is the author of Red Moon Rising (for older readers) and The Rescue Princesses (a younger series). She wanted to be a writer from a young age but spent many happy years being a primary school teacher first. She finds inspiration in lots of things from cloud shapes to snippets of conversation. She loves sandy beaches and eating popcorn. She lives with her husband and children in Buckinghamshire, which is nowhere near the sea. Whenever possible, she packs her family into the car and journeys far and wide to find a sandy beach where she can paddle in the waves.
