Brave, bright Billy is back for another thrilling adventure in Nadia Shireen’s Billy and the Dragon, an exciting tale of derring-do framed around a fancy-dress party and a super-daring rescue.
As Billy’s sidekick Fatcat is about to tuck into a sticky bun at the party, he’s grabbed by a great dragon and carried up, up and away. Thankfully, as always, Billy is prepared for anything, with useful items stored in her hair. In this case, a telescope, which she uses to spy poor Fatcat. Trouble is, he’s stuck up a tremendously tall tree in the Deep Dark Forest. In her inimitably inventive style, brave Billy figures out a way to rescue her friend, with help from an unlikely source, and an unexpected twist in the tale.
Bright and bold, with a sweet supporting cast of animal characters and lots to spot on every page, this is a beaut of a picture book.

Nadia Shireen Press Reviews
'Shireen's latest book confirms her as one of the brightest and best picture book creators working in Britain today... Sensational.' - The Observer
Praise for Billy and the Beast;
‘It's still all too unusual to see a brown girl star in such a brilliantly funny and very commercial picture book and Shireen has created Billy in fantastic style…And visually it's a complete treat too: Shireen's typically lively bold graphics brim with energy and expression, aided by really striking design. This might just be my favourite of her fabulous books to date’ – Fiona Noble, The Bookseller
‘While the title may nod to a certain fairy tale there's not even a whiff of ball gowns or romance in Nadia Shireen's joyous monster-slaying adventure. British author Shireen has created her best character yet in the feisty and fun Billy’ – The Guardian
‘Lively, energetic, full of well-timed humour (and a sidekick called Fatcat), it's a great story for everyone, especially those not used to seeing themselves centre stage’– The Guardian
‘I haven't met a child who didn't LOVE these books. Sweet, funny, odd in a life-affirming way’ – Caitlin Moran
‘Bold illustrations and witty humour’ – The Guardian
‘Irresistible’– The Metro
