A day of household chores turns into something much more exciting in this clever wordless picturebook. The first scenes show a dad and his son making pancakes – yum - and chatting non-stop over breakfast, but the mood changes when they see the long ‘Things to Do’ list on the fridge. Washing the dishes is quite fun, build the bookcase less so, and hoover the carpets is a real bore. That’s when the boy has a bright idea, changing the list to read ‘Things to do with Dad’. Making the beds is much more interesting when it’s done pirate style and the fun builds from there as ‘water the garden’ becomes explore the jungle! Indeed, anything can be enjoyable with a bit of imagination and especially when it’s done in the company of someone you love. ~Andrea Reece
Can a young boy figure out how to turn an obstacle into an opportunity in this nearly wordless picture book?
A morning of fun with Dad takes a turn for the boring when a long to-do list interferes. At first content to let Dad cross things off his list, the boy in the story soon realizes that the whole day will be spent on chores - unless he can come up with a solution. In his singularly expressive, kid-friendly style, author-illustrator Sam Zuppardi crafts a colorful celebration of the fun that can be had with just a little imagination - and a trusty green crayon.
