Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter are best friends, playing together all year and taking it in turns to wear the weather crown. Now it’s summertime and little Summer suggests a trip to the beach. Nothing seems to go right though, their ball bursts on a bush, animals pinch their picnic, and – the final straw for Summer – a wave destroys their special sandcastle. He’s in a rage, about to burst into tears, when he remembers Spring’s advice on staying calm, and it works. Now he doesn’t feel cross anymore and they can all have a lovely day in the sunshine. The story is full of incident and adventure to hold little children’s imaginations and its message about managing your emotions is an important one. It opens with a map too that children will love to explore.
