Eric Richmond is a sensitive twelve-year-old boy, smart and self-contained who moves to a big house in the country with his parents Henry and Harriet. However, Eric has a disturbing feeling about the big house and the mysteries that lie within. On arrival at his new school, Eric makes two new friends, Alistair and Peter, reluctantly; Eric shares the secrets of the old house. During the Easter holidays Eric receives a puppy from his father, a wish made at Christmas, but which came true at Easter- Rolykins. Eric soon realises that Rolykins has unusual powers, and after discovering an ancient scroll and a journal found in the attic, Eric, Alistair and Peter with Rolykins leading the way embark on a mysterious adventure into Baz's Secret Garden and then on to save the Magic Kingdom.
