Slip and slide the tab to make the pages come alive in this robust and playful book for toddlers. Painting, drumming, skipping and reading are just some of the activities in Playtime while delicious food including melon, ice cream and cakes are all enjoyed in Mealtime – and there is some tidying up afterwards! Bathtime is splashy and soapy while Bedtime is all the lovely rituals of getting ready for bed.
A host of toddlers enjoy getting ready for bed in this chunky board book with a difference. Enjoy the pictures' transformation as lots of different boys and girls play peek-a-boo, search for teddy and kiss goodnight. This is a perfect book for sharing with toddlers, bedtime or not!
There are three other 'Slip and Slide' books by Maureen Joffey: Bathtime, Mealtime and Playtime.
The rituals of bedtime are delightfully captured in this small format pull the tab book. Bedtime is part of a series of four books that deal with key elements of a toddler’s day. Children will love the clever use of paper engineering, which is robust enough to withstand their unsupervised exploration. The illustrations are bright and bold although some of them are a little abstract for children, such as the crumpled pyjamas. There is a pleasant rhyming text but the focus is on the illustrations, which convey movement via a slide picture change mechanism. Thus ‘cuddle up now’ has a little girl reaching out for teddy; pull the tab and she is cuddling teddy. This simple, yet effective concept, allows for many repeat readings.
