First Reading: Level Four. In this Russian folktale, Baba Yaga zooms through the forest in her flying pot. Her hair is greasy. Her hands are warty. Her nose reaches down to her chin. And poor Tasha has been sent into the forest to find her. Building readers’ stamina still further with all 48 pages devoted to the story (up to 750 words). The narrative is more developed, there is more text on the page, and sentence structure and vocabulary are more descriptive. Original fiction, folk tales and fairytales coupled with terrific illustrations will provide plenty of variety for the reader. Will be enjoyed with equal enthusiasm if read alone or together with a parent.
Other First Reading Level 4 titles include Percy and The Pirates, The Emperor and The Nightingale, and The Hare & The Tortoise.
