LoveReading4Kids Says
Danger stalks this delicate romance from the bestselling author of Shiver and Linger. Love is far from straightforward for sixteen-year-old, talented musician Dee. The guy she falls for is beautiful and mysterious; he seems to know a lot about her and he seems to care for her – a lot. But Dee and Luke are both different. She is a clover-hand, a girl who can see faeries. Luke seems to understand but what Dee doesn’t know is that Luke is an assassin from the faerie world. Will Dee be able to save herself?

Lament Synopsis
Sixteen-year-old Deirdre Monaghan is a painfully shy but prodigiously gifted musician. She's about to find out she's also a cloverhand-one who can see faeries. Deirdre finds herself infatuated with a mysterious boy who enters her ordinary suburban life, seemingly out of thin air. Trouble is, the enigmatic and gorgeous Luke turns out to be a gallowglass-a soulless faerie assassin. An equally hunky-and equally dangerous-dark faerie soldier named Aodhan is also stalking Deirdre. Sworn enemies, Luke and Aodhan each have a deadly assignment from the Faerie Queen. Namely, kill Deirdre before her music captures the attention of the Fae and threatens the Queen's sovereignty. Caught in the crossfire with Deirdre is James, her wisecracking but loyal best friend. Deirdre had been wishing her life weren't so dull, but getting trapped in the middle of a centuries-old faerie war isn't exactly what she had in mind . . . Lament is a dark faerie fantasy that features authentic Celtic faerie lore, plus cover art and interior illustrations by acclaimed faerie artist Julia Jeffrey. Linger, the second book in the trilogy, debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list. Maggie Stiefvater on Maggie Stiefvater:
All of my life decisions have been based around my inability to be gainfully employed. Talking to yourself, staring into space and coming to work in your pyjamas are frowned upon when you're a waitress, calligraphy instructor or technical editor (all of which I've tried), but are highly prized traits in novelists, musicians and artists (I've made my living as one of these since I was 22).
I now live an eccentric life in the middle of nowhere, Virginia, with my charmingly straight-laced husband, two small kids, two neurotic dogs, one criminally insane cat and a 1973 Camaro named Loki. I'm an avid reader, an award-winning coloured pencil artist and play several musical instruments, including the Celtic harp, the piano and the bagpipes. I also make great cocktail party conversation.
