One of our Books of the Year 2015 - A Reader Review Panel Pick of the Year 2015 - Julia Eccleshare's Debut of the Month, August 2015
A laugh-out-loud story told in a bouncing, rhyming text about the very unexpected things that can happen while you are sleeping…There are rapping lemons, partying pears, wriggling apples, grapes doing the conga and a very cool pineapple. And they are all dancing to the disco beat. Whoever would have thought that the fruit bowl would come alive in the dead of night? Or that they could have so much fun!
Kitchen Disco is a zany and hilarious rhyming picture book for young children, featuring a stunning holographic foil spread in the middle of the book.
At night when you are sleeping
There's a party in your house,
It's a pumping, jumping, funky bash
When all the lights go out...
When the sun goes down, the Kitchen Disco starts up - and all the fruit in the fruit bowl come out to play. There are lemons who break-dance, tangerines who twirl and some very over-excited apples.
This is Claire Foges's first book. When she's not writing about dancing fruit, she works as Speechwriter to the Prime Minister. Al Murphy is a versatile illustrator whose work has appeared in newspapers, advertising and apps, and now children's books. He has lived in London, Berlin and New York.
