Searching for the truth about his parents, Max shows great courage in the face of danger. He is helped by his absolute belief that his father is still alive and therefore that his mother didn’t kill him. He is also helped by his great powers as an escapologist. But Max’s search is fraught with difficulty and staying safe is little short of a miracle.
Max is an ordinary north London schoolboy by day, but at night he performs sell-out public shows as an escapologist. Max's mother, Helen, was convicted of murdering his father. One evening, a mysterious man from Santo Domingo - Lopez-Vega tells Max that his mother's trial was rigged. When Max goes to the hotel, he finds Lopez-Vega dead.
