Shortlisted for the 2013 Leeds Book Award.
Romance and suspense combine in a tense teen thriller that will leave you gasping for more.
A Review by Katy Poulter, age 12
I loved the science element to The Repossession as I am a budding scientist who aspires to be a physicist so this book was great with the aspect of teleportation and the theories behind that. I like the fact that Genie and Rian are so close, close enough for Rian to risk being arrested and his whole future to break her out of the prison which was her bedroom. There was such a sinister tone behind it all though with Reverend Schneider acting all innocent and providing a public front for the real evil to hide behind. Overall, it is an exhilarating book that I would definitely recommend to anyone in need of a good book.
Katy Poulter is a member of the Lovereading4kids Reader Review Panel but she has reviewed this novel in the first instance for the Leeds Book Award as it is one of the 2013 shortlisted titles. The organisers have kindly agreed to let us also make use of Katy's review

About
The Repossession Synopsis
Romance and suspense combine in a tense teen thriller that will leave you gasping for more ...34 kids missing. Vanished without a trace. Believing she is possessed, Genie Magee's mother has imprisoned her all summer encouraged by the sinister Reverend Schneider. Beautiful Rian, love of her life, sets her free, and their escape washes them up at Marshall's remote farmhouse downriver. But why are there newspaper clippings of the missing kids pinned to Marshall's bathroom wall? And should they believe his stories about the experiments at the Fortress, an underground research station nearby? Genie meets Denis. Missing two years now, but hasn't grown an inch. Rian is haunted by Renee, who insists she's not actually dead. Soon they discover the terrible truth about Reverend Schneider and worse, Genie is next ...and Rian can't do a thing to prevent it.
