In a village carved out between mountains and sea, on lands that were born on the winds of magic, we meet a baby and a bear cub curled together like two crescent moons. And then we meet 12 year old Saga, Bjørn her pet bear and her Afi, once a fierce warrior and now her guardian since the death of her parents. Over the years, Afi had taught Saga all kinds of useful things, but she never let him teach her how to use magic. Remembering that fateful day she lost her parents, magic is all tangled up with the horror, and she has since vowed to the Gods that she would never carve a single rune.
That is until the Trolls attack again and Saga is forced to confront her fears. At the edge of the world, a girl afraid of runes, walks into the beating heart of magic itself. And Saga shows her courage and her bravery as she is expected to dive into the depths of the ocean, summit the highest peaks and tread a path with death itself as she enters an epic quest to win a horn of ice crystals in the coldest most ferocious islands that ever existed.
