Noor is curious. Why do all the women in her family wear a hijab? Is to hide their big ears? Or to hide their snacks? Or to cover up a bad hair day?
She asks her big sister, her aunty and her two grandmas but none of them will give her an answer. Luckily, her wonderful mother not only explains why she wears a hijab but also explains to Noor some of the reasons why she might wear a hijab herself when she is older.
Farhana Islam perfectly captures a child’s simple curiosity and uses it to tell a story that celebrates family life and Muslim women.
