Children will love this warm and witty story with its adorably entertaining central character. Poor little Henry, unlike all the other baby penguins who are having fun sliding
on the ice and tumbling in the snow, Henry is not happy because he doesn't like the cold
and dreams of sandy shores and warm seas. When a boat sails close to
the ice, Henry jumps on board and heads off in search of sunshine. It
doesn't take him long, however, to realise that there's no place quite
like home.
Gillian Shields was born and brought up in Yorkshire. As she grew up, she had two passions; books and theatre. Gillian’s love of books led her to read English at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. After university she studied acting in London, and then worked in a drama school for several years, becoming Vice-Principal.
Having children gave Gillian an excuse to carry on reading children’s books, as well as motivation to write them. She has a young son and a grown-up daughter, and is married to Brian, who works for the International Herald Tribune.
