LoveReading4Kids Says
Alba the Albatross chick is ready to fly for the first time, but she’s caught by a huge wave and injured. Alone on a rocky shore, things look bleak for Alba.
Step up penguins who cheerfully waddle by, bringing her fish. Then, as the weather gets really cold, they huddle round her, surrounding her with love, day after day, night after night, keeping her safe until the sun returns. Her wing healed, it’s time for Alba to fly, but she never forgets the penguins, surrounding her own chick with love as safe and caring.
Beautifully illustrated, the story gives a real sense of the wild land and seascapes that are home to Alba and her friends, but it’s also an inspiring story about the importance of kindness and community, with lessons for all areas of life.

The Huddle Synopsis
Alba the young albatross leaves her nest to set out on her life's journey. But when a huge wave knocks her from the sky and breaks her wing, she is left all alone on an icy shore . . . But then a penguin appears, followed by another and another, until the whole colony is at Alba's side.
Among her new friends, Alba's spirits are quickly lifted and, through the long, dark winter, her wing slowly mends. When the sun finally appears over the horizon, Alba is at last able to fly again, but she never forgets the kindness she was shown at the heart of the penguin huddle.
