The Lollies 2018 - Winner of the Best Laugh Out Loud Picture Book
There are jokes galore in Elys Dolan’s brilliant new picture book and they’ll make readers of all ages crack up! Mr Bunny is a tough boss: while he’s in his office keeping a close eye on the profits, his chicken employees are hard at work making chocolate, then eating it and laying chocolate eggs! When he insists on upping production even further, the chickens decide un oeuf is un oeuf, lay down their tools and come out on strike, proclaiming power to the poultry, and demanding better working conditions. Fortunately Mr Bunny realises he needs the workers on his side, and industrial relations are rapidly restored. Bursting with verbal and visual gags, this is a wildly original and rewarding picture book; in fact I’d go so far as to say it is egg-cellent.

Elys Dolan Press Reviews
Praise for Nuts in Space:
Dolan's illustrations are a dippy delight and the jokes in the many speech bubbles funny enough to stand the test of many readings. A classic in the cracking. Children's Book of the Week - The Times
Praise for Weasels:
Dolan's hysterical picture book follows the weasels at work on the day they plan to seize global power but unexpected obstacles keep thwarting their efforts, from faulty machinery to over-zealous health and safety inspectors [] Every page is a treasure trove of hilarity and it will take several reads to pick up on all the clever little details which Dolan has scattered about the place. Its also fun to follow the progress of individual weasels as the story unfolds keep an eye out for the one with the huge drill, who happens to be my personal favourite. Picture Book of the Month - The Independent
Praise for The Clockwork Dragon:
Illustrator Elys Dolan brings Emmetts imaginative, exciting and funny story to life with colourful, appealing artwork... Lancashire Evening Post

About Elys Dolan
Elys Dolan is an author and illustrator living in Cambridge. She grew up in a part of Sussex that consists almost entirely of trees and cows and she was named after a department store in Wimbledon. She's never let either of these things hold her back and Elys recently graduated with distinction from the MA in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. Elys has been awarded second place in the Macmillan Prize and was also shortlisted for the Waterstone's ‘Picture This’ prize.
She works predominantly with paint markers, watercolours, and a splash of digital witchcraft. Elys has a PhD in funny picture books and when she’s feeling fussy insists that people refer to her as “Dr Dolan”. When not doing pictures and making things up Elys enjoys growing cacti, keeping bees and plotting how rabbits can win elections.
The Bookseller's Fiona Noble picked Elys as 'One to Watch' in 2015. When not doing pictures and making things up, Elys enjoys growing cacti, collecting pocket watches and eating excessive amounts of fondant fancies.
