Chris's new friend Andy suggests a novel way of spending Saturday - taking as many rides as possible on a Day Rover. Chris likes the idea, but not Andy's other suggestion - shoplifting. Chris becomes very uneasy about his friend's thieving and at last insists they catch the last bus home. The bus that comes is a 666, not one the boys recognise, and Chris soon realises that they are not heading for home but to a far more sinister destination. Chris has to plead for a second chance before he can escape from the last bus.
