Co-edited by two esteemed writers — Serena Patel and Robin Stevens — who know more than a thing or two about crafting thrilling crime and detective fiction for young readers, The Super Sunny Murder Club is the perfect book for mystery-mad kids to dip in and out of through the summer months. That said, the stories are nothing but page-turningly twisty, which makes it pretty darn difficult to put down.
Enhanced by Harry Woodgate’s crisp and characterful illustrations, the stories are also diverse in theme, set-up and setting, which makes it a veritable cornucopia of scintillating crime, from Abiola Bello’s Murder on the Dancefloor, to Patrice Lawrence’s Behind the Screams in the Museum, with Nizrana Farook’s seriously surprising, sun-drenched Murder in the Tropics being one of my personal favourites.
In short, if you know any young readers with a penchant for page-turning crime and mystery stories, be sure to gift them The Super Sunny Murder Club ahead of any summer holiday journeys.

Serena Patel (editor) was shortlisted for the Asian Writer Short Story Prize and finalist in the Undiscovered Voices Anthology 2018. Her debut children's series Anisha Accidental Detective won the fiction category of the Sainsbury's Children's Book Awards, being shortlisted for a British Book Award and the Blue Peter Prize 2021 and selected for The Reading Agency's Summer Reading Challenge. Serena lives in Walsall with her family.
Robin Stevens (editor) was born in California and has been making up stories all her life. When she was twelve, her father handed her a copy of The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and she realised that she wanted to be either Hercule Poirot or Agatha Christie when she grew up. She spent her teenage years reading a lot of murder mysteries and hoping that she'd get the chance to do some detecting herself (she didn't). Robin is now a full-time author, and her books are both award-winning and bestselling. She lives in Oxford.
