It is now virtually impossible to review David Walliams’ and Tony Ross’ picturebook collaborations because, quite frankly, the superlatives are all used up. The Queen’s Orang-Utan mashes together (not literally) the queen and an orang-utan in a book that is outrageously funny. It could not delight or rollick more, or go any further over the top: it is a total triumph. Once again the pairing of words and illustrations is perfect. Tony Ross’s pictures capture the energy of the text and the ideas, while emphasising also the friendly connection of the characters. Children will love it, parents will love it – there’s simply nothing more to say. Except that the proceeds go to Comic Relief. ~ Andrea Reece
