The Berenstain Bears and the Spooky Old Tree Synopsis
The small Berenstain Bears go out on a daring nighttime adventure in THE SPOOKY OLD TREE and find thrills and shivers in just the right measure before returning to the safety of home. Four- and five-year olds will enjoy having this story read to them and older children will want to read it themselves.
Stan & Jan Berenstain were already successful cartoonists when they had a great idea for a children’s book. Their sons, Leo and Mike, had just begun to read, and they decided to create a funny family who would have the everyday adventures children really want to read about. The first story starring the Bear family, The Big Honey Hunt, appeared in 1962. Since then, more than 250 Berenstain Bears books have been published, and over 260 million copies sold, making the Berenstain Bears arguably the best-selling children’s book series ever.
Stan Berenstain passed away in November 2005 at the age of 82.
