Glamour and guts are finely blended in this right royal adventure. Princess Emily is a modern day princess – and fiesty to boot. At a gathering of royals she and her new friends, all other young princesses, take a break from their fine dresses and good manners and search for something more fun. Soon the girls are on the trail of whoever is plotting to destroy the deer in Mistberg Forest. It’s a brave mission - and fun, too.
The Rescue Princesses: The Secret Promise Synopsis
Princess Lizzie is excited about her first Grand Ball, but she'd rather be on the zip wire in the castle grounds than trying on dresses. Her three friends feel the same, so they slip out after dinner. A zip wire in the dark is excellent fun! But things take a serious turn when the girls find a trapped deer in the forest. Who would do such an awful thing, and why?
This is the first book in a sparkling new series for girls who like their princesses feisty! And it's a mash-up: princesses, cute creatures, friendship and page-turning adventure.
Kirsty Stansfield from publisher Nosy Crow says: "This series has something for every girl: there are plenty of tiaras and lovely dresses, but lots of speedboat action and ninja moves, too. And they've even got magic jewels!"
Paula Harrison began inventing stories and writing them down as a child. One of her best was about a magical land inhabited by talking bookworms. After taking an English degree, she became a primary school teacher and is now married with two children. She loves inspiring children's imaginations and believes that day-dreaming can be a really good use of your time (although she hasn't actually said that during a lesson). Over the years, she's shared many different authors' books with children, and now she can't wait to share her own.
Paula says: “The beginnings of the idea for The Rescue Princesses came when I watched my daughters playing. They were racing around the garden pretending to be Princesses who could go anywhere and do anything they liked. That set me thinking: in a world where anything is possible, Princesses won’t be sitting around on thrones. They’ll be out there, proving they’re better than the Princes!”
Paula Harrison is the author of Red Moon Rising (for older readers) and The Rescue Princesses (a younger series). She wanted to be a writer from a young age but spent many happy years being a primary school teacher first. She finds inspiration in lots of things from cloud shapes to snippets of conversation. She loves sandy beaches and eating popcorn. She lives with her husband and children in Buckinghamshire, which is nowhere near the sea. Whenever possible, she packs her family into the car and journeys far and wide to find a sandy beach where she can paddle in the waves.
