I was born and raised in a small town called Hamilton, in New Zealand, I was a bit of a handful as a toddler and very bossy! I had a perfectly happy childhood and spent a lot of time at the beach. I was obsessed with cutting and pasting, I loved making scrap books and collecting bits and bobs from every where I went. I was exceptionally messy and my room always looked a bit like a bomb had hit it. I loved writing stories and attempted to write a novel with my friend when we were about 12, we used to take turns writing a paragraph or two then passed it to the other – we spent hours doing this on her roof!
I live in Kensington in London, with my husband, 4 children and our crazy dog. I run a family members club and have designed a range of classes to inspire children and adults alike to have fun and get creative. I don’t have any formal experience or training; I am just a mum who likes to make stuff and get kids having fun whilst learning. My kids are very involved in all the ideas that I come up with and have road tested pretty much everything at the club and in the books!
Eight Things You Didn't Know About Maggie Bolger:
1. I don’t have a spleen! The doctors took it out when I was eight because it was doing crazy stuff to my blood!
2. I love chocolate in all forms. I want to go to a cocoa plantation and see how it is made.
3. My oldest daughter, Azia, is exactly like me – which is a little scary!
4. My children’s names are Azia, Oscar & India. They named their newest brother Oliver as it is their favourite movie. Our dog is called Coco.
5. My favourite place in the world is London – don’t ask me why ! It just is!
6. I don’t like primary colours very much. My favourite colours are green & brown.
7. I love books, I have hundreds and hundreds, I love paper and pictures – I hope they don’t get replaced by computers!
8. Christmas is my absolute favourite time of the year.
