Lyrically told this is a wonderful collection of the best-loved stories from the Old Testament including the fight between brothers Cain and Abel, how Noah saved the animals by building an Ark when the floods came and the epic fight between David and Goliath. Berlie Doherty never loses sight of the origins of each story but also brings out the universals, which have made them important and long lasting.
The Old Testament reveals the lives of many families across the generations and tells the stories of many unforgettable men and women. Their lives are played out in turbulent times against the drama of great floods, plagues, journeys, and battles. From this epic sweep, Berlie Doherty has chosen more than forty stories.

Her narrative draws out the emotions of real people: their hopes and fears, grief and joy, fulfilment and suffering, compassion and betrayal. She brings us to an understanding of the promises that these people keep and the mistakes they make. Through all this we discover more about God and what it means to have faith in him.
Fully illustrated throughout by Jason Cockcroft with both sumptuous colour and evocative black and white artwork, this new collection of Bible stories is a book to cherish.
