This book is a wonderful celebration not just of the fun that can be had when everyone “all joins in” but also of Elmer’s 20th birthday. It’s Elmer Day. In their excitement about getting ready for it, the elephants forget about the racket they are making and so annoy all the other animals in the jungle.

It's almost Elmer Day again for the elephants, and they have begun their preparations already. But in all the excitement they are making an awful lot of noise, and upsetting the other animals. David McKee (January 1935 – April 2022) was born in Devon and studied at Plymouth Art College. In the early part of his career, McKee regularly drew and sold humorous drawings to magazines and newspapers such as The Times Educational Supplement, Punch and the Reader’s Digest.
David McKee wrote and illustrated over 50 picture books for Andersen Press and penned a number of children’s classics including King Rollo, Mr Benn, Not Now Bernard and of course, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant.
