LoveReading4Kids Says
This is the antithesis of a normal cookbook - although if you were seeking a specific recipe there is a comprehensive index (and a very informative glossary) which enables you to find it quickly.
As she showed with her award-winning debut, Utterly Jarvellous, this neuroscientist author believes we learn best by working things out for ourselves and so this cooking adventure starts with the reader choosing or indeed “Chewsing,” a maximum of six key ingredients which will lead, in game book style, to a specific recipe.
The reader is also regularly sent back to read the pages of useful tips and safety instructions! There are thirty - eight savoury or sweet vegetarian recipes to be found. They range across the world and along the way we learn some science behind the recipes to show why they work and begin to understand the different foods and cultures. As the author says “There is so much more to food than the eating” A highly recommended innovative culinary and reading experience that will support science, food technology and humanities.
