Morning is breaking down in the bog, and Frog is looking forward to a peaceful day. But the best laid plans of amphibians and men can go astray, and a series of interruptions from the insects, birds and animals who are his neighbours in the bog leave him feeling that nothing has gone his way. When they notice how he’s feeling though, the others rally round and Frog’s Bog suddenly becomes the only place to be.
Young readers will be thoroughly entertained by Frog’s mishaps which are wonderfully comic, but the illustrations of the wildlife round the various waterways he explores are very charming too and full of real-life detail. A funny story and an inspiring introduction to the plants and creatures to be found by our bogs, ponds and streams.
In Frog’s Bog, debut author and illustrator team Marielle Bayliss and Mariela Malova introduce us to a brilliant new picture book character, Frog, and his many friends.
Whether he’s dunked in a bog by Fox, dive bombed by Dragonfly, speckled with wood chips by Woodpecker or croaking off key in his very own frog chorus, Frog cannot seem to find the perfect place to relax.
Thankfully the ever-present bees create quite the buzz, reminding all the waterside animals to take account of other’s feelings and mustering them into making Frog’s Bog the best bog on the waterway.
