Quite frankly, maths has never looked more stylish, and been written about so clearly for the youngest of learners as in Maths Words for Little People: Sums.
Helen Mortimer’s writing style is clear and inviting – pitch-perfect for providing a fantastic foundation for learning about basic mathematical concepts. We learn about more and less, adding and taking away, part and whole, counting on and counting back. The book also tackles the plus and minus signs and number bonds. And all this information is presented in relatable, everyday contexts. For example, if we add leaves to a pile, the pile gets bigger!
With Cristina Trapanese’s charming illustrations adding to the page-appeal, this delivers an informative, attractive, confidence-boosting introduction to sums, with ten top tips for how to get the most from the book shared at the back.
