LoveReading4Kids Says
A set of 6 photocopiable maths activities, one for each year group, from Yrs. 1-3 that support the national curriculum. There is an exercise for every day for the 40 weeks of the school year, consisting of 10 questions and a weekly challenge.
These books have obviously been well researched, with a very comprehensive introduction and a detailed content map that explains how the exercises fits in with the maths syllabus. For each week and topic there are three levels available, grasshopper, shinobi, and Grandmaster. As the names suggest, they are geared to ability levels. Grasshopper – whose subheading is catch up-keep up, which focuses on straightforward exercises combined with reviewing previous topics on a regular basis, shinobi level - to build links and make connections, and grandmaster, which, as the name suggests, is more challenging and thought provoking in its approach. There is also a quick check answer page, for effortless marking.
The simplicity of the layout is for me, the appeal of these books. The short 10 question printable exercise is ideal for a warmup, and would work well with a class, private tuition or as part of a homework provision. I also like the fact that the exercises are printed individually, which means that a child can swap levels, depending on progress or indeed a need to review a particular topic, as opposed to a workbook where the child is tied into completing a whole book at the same level, which could be demotivating.
The only negative comment I would make is that the exercises and layout are very similar with no variety in format. However, maybe the repetition and routine are its appeal. They would certainly be a useful photocopiable book to have available, and I would be very happy to add it to my homework schedule – short and clear for parent and child!

Arithmetic Ninja for Ages 7-8 Synopsis
Arithmetic Ninja for Ages 7-8 is the essential photocopiable maths resource for every Year 3 classroom from Andrew Jennings, the creator of Vocabulary Ninja, Comprehension Ninja and Write Like a Ninja.
Split into 38 weeks, this book features over 680 question cards and is fully aligned to the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum for mathematics. With activities for each day of the week plus a bonus challenge, this book is the perfect resource for daily maths practice and quick lesson starters.
The exercises in this book get progressively harder each week, and are divided into three Ninja levels to ensure differentiation. There are answers at the back to help with marking and cutting lines on each page so the activities can easily be cut out and stuck in exercise books.
Perfect for SATs preparation, the multiplication tables check and mental maths practice, this book is ideal for busy primary teachers who only want to visit the photocopier once a week. The resources are flexible and high-quality, and will ensure all pupils are maths Ninjas by the end of the year.
