Ancient witch treasure, a missing mother, a magic stone, and a boy who truly believes in magic, Tim Tilley’s Witchstorm will charm the pointy hats off 8+ year-olds who enjoy atmospheric adventure stories.
Despite being mocked by his peers, Will firmly believes in the witches his Ma tells tales about, not least legendary local witch, Agatha Crow. Will and Ma have long been looking for Agatha’s lost treasure and, though Agatha was supposedly the last witch, it’s said “other witches survived. Living in secret”.
When Ma vanishes, Will won’t give up searching for her, or for Agatha’s treasure, and the appearance of Magda, one of those surviving witches, heightens his chances of success, while also heightening the perils he must face.
With riddles to solve, symbols to decipher, and plenty of breakneck broomstick chases, Witchstorm tingles with the thrills of a classic quest, with the richly-described Fens setting adding atmosphere and timelessness.
