LoveReading4Kids Says
White Book Band, ideal for ages 6+
What a relatable book. I am sure many, many families have been in a similar situation. It is always difficult juggling siblings and ensuring the elder child is not jealous of the new arrival. This book deals with this so sweetly, written from the point of view of the elder brother.
Blay, although clearly caring for his little sister, finds the endless mess, smell, and disruption quite hard to take and wishes he could have things back as they used to be. However, when his wish comes true, and Bethany (alias the snotty dribbler) is rushed to hospital he realises his true feelings for her, how he misses her and all the things that irritated him suddenly seem rather unimportant. I love the way he changes, but how, out of a sense of pride, wants to keep his love a secret.
It is such a lovely book to share and a wonderful one for a discussion.
