Let’s face it, learning to recycle and understand why it’s so important is just about the most important life skill there is right now, so congratulations to Sunbird Books for this bright, engaging board book which explains recycling simply to the very young. Over five jolly spreads, we follow the progress of a tin can all the way from the green bin on its journey from rubbish to shiny, new recycled tin. The text is short, perfectly geared for little ones, and fun to read, and the illustrations are lively with lots to spot and name. A spinning wheel (watch those tins drop into the recycling lorry) and a surprise pull out tab at the end add to the fun. Essential reading for budding eco-warriors everywhere!
There's a companion board book Go Go Eco Apple too!

A message from the author, Claire Phillip: I was delighted to be asked by Tiny & Tim to write a series of preschool board books that introduce the basic concept of recycling to a very young audience.
To the layman, many of these processes can seem very dull! So the real challenge of Go, Go, Eco! was to take these transformative stages and make them fun and engaging for young readers. I was inspired by Richard Scarry’s work in his classic book What People Do All Day written more than 50 years ago where technical processes, like paper-making, are rendered in joyful and fascinating detail. Working alongside the wonderfully witty artist, Steve Wood, the Go, Go, Eco! books follow the remarkable journey of everyday objects, from something discarded to their whole new life, rather than just becoming landfill!
It became clear from my many hours of research, that recycling processes vary from plant-to-plant, so I set about simplifying and amalgamating the stages to make them appropriate to this age group and yet retain a solid core of authenticity.
The resources on our planet are limited and I believe engaging children in an appreciation of their scarcity and re-use is a small but positive contribution for their future.
