Eddy Stone and the Epic Holiday Mash-Up is an epic story indeed, and possibly the most inventive piratical comedy-fantasy-adventure you’ll read this year. It starts with Eddy finding a pirate captain in his gran’s bath. But, before you know it the two of them, plus a nice shopkeeper thereafter known as the Crew, and a penguin are on board their own pirate ship, the Codcake, and embarked on a treasure hunt that leads them from one fantastical place and adventure to another. All the while pursued by the properly nasty Barracuda Bill!. As quests go, it’s a cracker and very, very funny too. Polished and very original, this is Simon Cherry’s debut novel and hopefully the first of many. ~ Andrea Reece
When Eddy finds a pirate in his gran’s bath, his miserable summer holiday becomes a treasure hunt! Setting sail in a ship-shaped shed, crewed by an old lady and a grumpy penguin, what could possibly stop their quest for booty? (Apart from the world’s most evil shopkeeper, a man-eating beast, and the maddest, baddest villain in all the seven seas.)
'A charming, surreal and batty trip into a world of Pythonesque Pirates , buried treasure and total silliness. Lovely' - Lenny Henry
'Oh how I wish the wonderfully told adventures of this unforgettable pirate and the boy who befriends him had existed when I was young. I shall pretend I still am and read them again and again' - Stephen Fry
