October 2014 Debut of the Month A simple and witty rhyming text tells how Woozy the Wizard sets about trying to make the villagers of Snottington Sneeze better after they have all gone down with a very severe kind of sneezing sickness! There are lots of jokes which are easily spotted in the illustrations too!
'In the faraway village of Snottington SneezeLived a wizened old wizard with knocketty knees.'Woozy the Wizard is a well-meaning wizard who just wants to help his friends. But sometimes his spells (and he) get all mixed up! So then he has to get back on his broom with his pet pig and zoom around the village trying to put things right . . . 'Your spells sometimes flop but you see, we don't mind;We love you, dear wizard, because you are kind.'
Elli Woollard started writing stories after an embarrassing incident in which her youngest son broke Michael Rosen's glasses. Having previousl written poetry, Elli's snappy rhymes, catchy, rhythms and witty stories have captured the imagination of the children's book world; from picture book collaborations with wonderfully talented illustrators such as Benji Davies (The Giant of Jum and The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight), Steven Lenton (The Great Gran Plan, 2017), to a first chapter book with the marvellous Laura Ellen Anderson (Swashbuckle Lil: The Secret Pirate). In everything she does, Elli Woollard brings a unique new voice to children's fiction, and is definitely an author to watch. She lives in London with her four children, her husband and two guinea pigs.
