Read on for news of two exciting interactive author events planned for the Summer Term involving a Guiness TM World Record attempt with Michael Rosen and a take-over of an English lesson by Anthony Horowitz, author of the phenomenal Alex Rider series.
Anthony Horowitz is taking over YOUR English lesson!
He’s the author of the No.1 bestselling Alex Rider books and the Power of Five series. He’s responsible for getting a generation of kids reading, has constantly championed the importance of reading for pleasure and was granted an OBE for services to literature in 2014!
Now, Anthony Horowitz is staging a takeover of an English lesson. Join him on 16 June from 14:00 - 15:00 for an interactive webcast hosted by top TV presenter Barney Harwood!
This is your chance to put your questions to Anthony and hear him read from Russian Roulette, the deadly prequel to the Alex Rider series, out in paperback 5 June. This event is suitable for children aged 10+ and will also be available on demand afterwards.

Join the World’s Largest reading lesson GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS TM attempt.
Walker Books and The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) are celebrating 25 years of We’re Going On A Bear Hunt, by attempting to break a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDSTM Title for the Largest reading lesson, to raise money for Read for RNIB Day. At 10am on TUESDAY 15TH JULY 2014 Walker Books will host a giant reading lesson starring Michael Rosen, the author of the beloved picture book.
Over 1,000 children will come together at Charter Hall, Colchester, to take part in this unique fun- packed Bear Hunt reading lesson created especially for the occasion. To make this a national celebration, the event will be live-streamed on jointhebearhunt.com/RNIBfor all children to watch and take part.
Four special remote venues will host in-house screening events with their local schools, these are: Seven Stories in Newcastle, Discover Story Centre in Stratford, East London, The Story Museum in Oxford and Birmingham’s New Central Library – so the Largest reading lesson will be enjoyed by brave bear hunters nationwide. On the day each child involved will be asked to donate £1 to Read for RNIB Day to help open up a world of reading and make more books accessible to blind and partially sighted children.
