In celebration of World Book Day, and all the joys and benefits that reading for pleasure brings, the cast of a new stageshow of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe are sharing their favourite passages from this magical book.
A must read classic, C.S Lewis’s fantasy The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe tells the story of the four Pevensie children, Lucy, Peter, Edmund, and Susan, and their adventures in the mystical world of Narnia. Sent to the British countryside for their own safety during the blitz of World War II, they discover an entryway into a mystical world through an old wardrobe. Mythical creatures suffering under the rule of the cruel White Witch inhabit Narnia and the arrival of the children gives them hope for liberation. All are dragged into the inevitable conflict between evil and good. First published in 1950, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe sparked a further six novels in The Chronicles of Narnia and still captures young hearts today.
Stanton Wright, who plays Aslan the Lion and the rightful King of Narnia, reads from his favourite part, a letter from the start of the book:
Joanna Adaran plays the part of Susan and here reads her favourite passage from the book, which she thinks shows just how far the Pevensie children have come, and that anything is possible.
