Yet again tough decisions  have been made.  The reviews supplied by our kids panel for titles published in September have, as always, been fantastic.  So without further delay I'm delighted to introduce you to our reviews of the month for September 2015.

YOUNG READERS CATEGORY

Sabina Beinart-Smith, age 7 .  

Sabina could not get her nose out of the beautiful MANGO AND BANBANG: THE NOT-A-PIG by Polly Faber & Clara Vulliamy. She thought it was really funny and had great fun reading it with mummy and daddy.  Sabina said it was so funny it even made her daddy laugh!

We loved Sabina's review because she showed us how much fun and laughter mummies and daddies can get from books too.

Here are a few book inspired questions we put to Sabina.

If the planet was under attack from book munching monsters and you could save only one book, which one would it be?

Circus Shoes by Noel Streatfield. I’m reading it now and it’s very long, so it would keep me going for a while.

What do you love most about being a book reviewer?

Reading the books!

If you could be one character from a book for a day who would you be?

Santa from Circus Shoes because she’s curious about things, just like me.

MIDDLE GRADE CATEGORY

Sam Harper, age 11.

Sam has been reviewing books for Lovereading4kids for over two years now and has read and reviewed a lot of books and has even had quotes from his reviews used by the publishers on the cover of books!  You know real books that people actually buy!!!  Very exciting indeed.  Now the review that we absolutely loved this month is for a title that was published sometime ago but we felt that the fantastic Lockwood & Co series by Jonathan Stroud just had to be brought to the attention of our panel and so we asked them to begin at the very beginning and review The Screaming Staircase. Sam absolutely loved it and found it impossible to put down as you'll see from his great review.  He has since gone on to read book two in the series The Whispering Skull (-link:. )  and has the latest exciting installment, The Hollow Boy firmly at the top of his 'to read' pile.  We hope you enjoy it Sam.

If the planet was under attack from book munching monsters and you could save only one book, which one would it be?

The Big Book of How to Defeat Book Munching Monsters! But if that didn’t exist then I would go with Scorpia Rising, the final book in the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz. It’s a brilliant ending to a fantastic series but it would be a really tough choice as I would want to save so many!

What do you love most about being a book reviewer?

It’s exciting when I see the books which I’ve reviewed on the shelves in shops and libraries. In a couple of cases my comments have been printed on the covers and that made me feel amazing.

If you could be one character from a book for a day who would you be?

I would love to be Sam, the boy with a million wishes, from The Big Wish by Brandon Robshaw. In the book Sam uses his wishes for really funny and weird things but I would use them to make myself tiny, to fight monsters and I could also wish to be any other book character, maybe for even longer than a day, in case I changed my mind!

TEEN/YA CATEGORY

Ayesha Ali, age 18.

Last but by no means least we come to Ayesha who simply fell in love with The Next Together by Lauren James. The combination of history, humour, sci-fi and romance was a big hit for Ayesha who felt that along with the versatilty of the story means it will appeal to anyone despite their usual reading preference.  Intrigued?  Then why not take a peek at her full review.

Do you re-read books? and if so which book have you read the most times and why?

I wish I could re-read more books, but I usually prefer to read new novels and explore new stories. If I re-read a book it is usually re-reading a film adaption so I can refresh my mind of the story before I watch the film!

What do you love most about being a book reviewer?

Aaah where do I start?! There are so many great things about being a book reviewer, for starters I get to read more books! It’s lovely to have the opportunity to read books that I wouldn’t usually pick up. This was definitely the case for The Next Together by Lauren James. As this was a debut book from Lauren James, I hadn’t heard much about it but as soon as I finished reading it, it jumped straight to the top of my “favourite books” list! It’s also a great opportunity to share my love for books with others, and meet new people and read about their opinions of a particular book!

If you could jump inside the world of a book for one day where would you go?

I’m definitely going to be cliché…. Hogwarts of course! The wizarding world is such a captivating world I could not give up an opportunity to visit! I would definitely have to stop off at the Hufflepuff common room (Team Hufflepuff all the way!), sit in a Divination class (because Professor Trelawney is one of my favourite characters!) and end my day with a cup of Butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks!
