The winners of Pearson’s My Twist on a Tale: Represent! competition have been announced and published!

A very talented group of children and young people have had their amazing tales published in a brand-new book, My Twist on a Tale: Represent!

Last Autumn, four to 19-year-olds across the UK took part in Pearson’s My Twist on a Tale writing competition, picking up their pens to represent what, and who, they feel is being left out in literature today.

Representing views and experiences from children in Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 5, and all regions of the UK, the budding authors presented poems and stories on a range of impactful topics, from the challenges of transitioning to the value of acceptance, from super-hero refugees to brilliant tales of going against the norm.

The winning entries can now be enjoyed in a free illustrated eBook.

The judges included our very own MD Deborah Maclaren, read all about the panel on the Pearson website here.

The competition comes after Pearson’s 2022 School Report found that almost 6 in 10 teachers want the national curriculum to develop a tolerance of diverse opinions among pupils to help them thrive in 2022 and beyond.

At the same time, 57% of teachers want to see a greater social and cultural awareness among pupils, and 6 in 10 do not think that the current education system is developing tolerant, sustainably minded citizens of the future.
