International Book Giving Day takes place on 14th February each year. The aim? To get books into the hands of as many children as possible. Now at LoveReading, that’s our mission every day of the year.

The LoveReading family exists because reading matters, and books change lives. We know everything changes when we read and that reading for pleasure has a significant impact on the outcomes of our young readers.

This International Book Giving Day, we have selected 12 schools from right across the UK who have created a wish list of books they’d love to make available to their children. Go on, take a look, buy a book, support a school, make a difference.

When you buy from these lists, the school will be informed, and the books will get sent directly to them, ready for them to be placed into the children’s hands.

Last Summer we announced the launch of an online bookstore with social purpose on LoveReading4Kids and LoveReading where 25% of money spent can be donated to a school of the buyer's choice, to spend on books. Book buyers also receive 10% off the RRP on a huge selection of titles.

Even if the buyer doesn’t nominate or have an affinity with a school, 10% of the spend will be donated to schools in need, in deprived areas. Schools can apply for this Funding Scheme, it’s open to state funded primaries and secondaries with a particular set of needs, and the funding can be spent on books.

As part of our schools programme LoveReading4Kids offers the tools, advice and information to help support schools with engendering a reading for pleasure culture. This includes the ability for schools to create wish lists, letting people know what books they’d like to add to their school libraries - and enabling people to gift these books to them.

Please get involved in this conversation on social media and let’s all make a difference. Share the book love this International Book Giving Day with the hashtags
