Memory loss in adults can occur due to a variety of factors, ranging from normal aging to more serious medical conditions.

As people we love age, some decline in memory and cognitive function is common however there are some conditions in particular that cause severe memory loss which can be very difficult for us to understand. And even harder for the children in our life. To help support the children in our life we have collected here a selection of children's books to help support children and raise awareness and highlight issues faced by people with dementia or memory loss.

Across the world nearly 50 million people are living with dementia. Dementia is an umbrella term for a group of symptoms related to the decline in memory, reasoning, and other cognitive abilities that affect daily life, Alzheimer's being the most common cause.

The word dementia describes a set of symptoms that may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. A person with dementia may also experience changes in their mood or behaviour.  These changes are often small to start with, but for someone with dementia they have become severe enough to affect daily life.

Alzheimer's is the most common cause of severe memory loss in older adults. It is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects brain cells, leading to memory loss, confusion, and changes in behavior.

World Alzheimer's Day is a global opportunity to raise awareness around, educate, encourage support of and demystify dementia.

It is an opportunity for people and organisations to demonstrate how we can overcome these issues and help people live well with dementia.
