Siirsel Tas graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1995. After specializing in radiation oncology, she worked as a translator and editor in medical publishing, developing a passion for children's literature. She curated the youth literature column in Remzi Kitap Gazetesi from 2007 to 2010 and wrote for children's book magazine Iyi Kitap from 2009 to 2016. Siirsel continues to write in children's and youth literature, medicine, and natural sciences. She enjoys nature writing, cookies baked by her daughter, singing with children, and taking long walks. She has been nominated for the 2023 ALMA (Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award). She lives in Istanbul.
