Peter Havranek was born and brought up in East Africa to a Czech father and English mother. He went to boarding school on the Isle of Wight while his parents worked and lived in the Middle East. He started his teaching career teaching English to Iranian Airforce pilots. He trained as a primary school teacher and taught in Wiltshire primary schools for thirty years. His story telling skills were developed when he led large groups of primary children in History Through Drama projects. He finished his career as headteacher of a Wiltshire Primary school near Chippenham.
