Jan Kearns was born and raised in Quinton, Birmingham, United Kingdom with her mum, dad and sisters; Susan and Karen with whom she is very close. As a child, Jan's favourite toy was her monkey which she called "Jacko": they were inseparable, and as a child Jan spent many hours playing in the forest, jumping in puddles of water and climbing trees with her monkey companion. As an adult, Jan still enjoys the peace and tranquillity of the outdoors and enjoys walks with her family… and might still jump in a puddle or two! Jan wrote her first book Jacko the Baby Chimp's Fishing Adventure in lockdown during the Covid19 Pandemic: a challenging time for many, Jan channelled her efforts into creating Jacko's world to share with her children and grandchildren since she couldn't see them in person. Children play a big part in Jan's life. She has two children, three grandchildren and has also been a full-time foster carer for 10 years.
