Elisabeth Kelly is a Principal Early Years Teacher with Midlothian Council with over 15 years' experience of working with children.She recently graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma (Distinction) University of Edinburgh in Learning for Sustainability and has become passionate about environment and place education. She believes it is important for children to connect with nature outside of forest and woodlands, which is currently a dominant narrative in education and society. She likes to encourage children to connect with places they actually live in. For most children this is in an urban environment. There are few quality books that show the beauty of wild animals and plants in urban environments. There are also few elves, fairies or magic people portrayed living in these environments and Elizabeth feels passionately that children should grow up believing there is wonder and magic where they live. Elizabeth is also a mum to two young children, one of whom is neurodiverse. She is a poet and write
