Catherynne M. Valente is a New York Times bestselling author of fantasy and science fiction novels, short stories, and poetry. She writes children’s, YA and adult fiction. She has received huge critical acclaim in the US and has won the Andre Norton Award, the Hugo award, the Locus Award, the Tiptree Award, the Mythopoeic Award, the Rhysling Award and the Million Writers Award. She has also been nominated for Hugo and Nebula awards.

Catherynne began September's adventures in instalments on the Web; the project won legions of fans and also the CultureGeek Best Web Fiction of the Decade award.

She lives on an island off the coast of Maine with her partner, two dogs, an enormous cat, six chickens and a red accordion.
