The third slimy segment in Kirk Scroggs' ghoulishly good Wiley and Grampa's Creature Features series, Monster Fish Frenzy is a gut-busting, Pork Cracklin'-filled tale involving aquatic adventures both awesome and awful. When Wiley and Grampa courageously set out upon Lake Putrid to catch the infamous Moby Fizz, they'll brave more disgusting dangers-particularly Gramma's homemade pimento and cheese-than Grampa's trusty fishing net can handle.
One day in the school cafeteria, Wiley stands on the table and invites everyone to his grandpa's annual barbecue. Everyone cheers! Later, Wiley and his friend Jubal are experimenting with a chemistry set. They develop a dangerous new explosive that Wiley names PPK. Then the boys fill a container with it and place it on a shelf right next to Gramma's containers of paprika. The next day, just as Grampa's barbecue festivities are getting underway, the recently deceased begin rising from their graves! And they sure are hungry for barbecue! When the zombies devour all the delicious grub, their appetite shifts toward the living. Only Vera the lunch lady's spicy beet borscht can save the party-goers now. Kirk Scroggs is making a name for himself as a fun-loving children's author of monstrous distinction.
Sitting around poppin' pork cracklins and watching the tube, Grampa and Wiley witness to the awesomest TV commercial they've ever seen: Colonel Dracula's Monster Truck Spectacular is in town! Then the local weatherman breaks in with a dire warning: an F5 tornado could blow through at any minute! So what does a responsible guardian like Grampa do? When Gramma isn't looking, he and Wiley sneak out of the house bound for the monster truck extravaganza of course! At the coliseum, Wiley and Grampa are surprised to be selected for the audience participation round. Their task is to outmaneuver Colonel Drac's vampire monster truck-the Mudsucker-and jump a fiery pit full of giant mechanical lobsters while driving a tiny British clown car. Do you think they'll make it? Maniacal laughter will pierce the night as children gleefully listen to this creepy-crawly tale of monster trucks, tornados, and bloodsucking vehicular mayhem.
