Helen Keller-who was deaf and blind-spent her first years desperately trying to communicate with others. As a result she suffered much loneliness and frustration. Eventually things turned for the better when she met Anne Sullivan. The two forged a lifelong bond.
After hearing that the fifth graders are going to visit a nursing home, the second graders want to go, too. Their teacher says it is not possible but suggests they assemble care packages. The students enthusiastically make colorful artwork and crafts and send their care packages. Later, they receive a large thank-you banner signed by all the residents.
